Terms of Use

Operator:
Chinesekit (chinesekit.net)

1. Who we are and what these Terms cover

1.1Chinesekit (chinesekit.net) provides the chinesekit.net website (“we”, “us”, “the Service”). These Terms govern your use of the Service. If the operator of the Service changes, we will name the new operator at the top of this page, and these Terms will apply to it.

1.2You can contact us at support@chinesekit.net.

1.3These Terms apply when you use the Service. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Service.

2. The Service

2.1Chinesekit is a Chinese dictionary and practice site for learners, organised by HSK level. You do not need an account to use it.

2.2We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the Service at any time. We do not promise that the Service will be available without interruption or free of errors.

3. Acceptable use

3.1You agree not to use the Service: (a) for any unlawful purpose; (b) for fraud, spam or to mislead others; (c) in a way that infringes other people’s rights; or (d) to probe, scan or test its security, to interfere with its operation, or to overload it.

3.2Nothing in this section limits what you may do with the open data listed on the Sources page, including copying and redistributing it as the relevant licences allow.

3.3We may block or suspend access to the Service if you breach these Terms or misuse the Service.

4. Content and accuracy

4.1Dictionary entries, example sentences and level labels are provided to support learning. They may contain errors or omissions. They are not professional translation advice, and we do not guarantee any exam result.

4.2HSK levels shown on the Service follow the levels in the Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education (GF0025-2021). Chinesekit is not affiliated with, endorsed by or certified by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China or Chinese Testing International.

5. Open data and licences

5.1Nothing in these Terms restricts the rights you have under the open licences listed on the Sources page.

5.2Our own material — the design and user interface, editorial content that we write ourselves, and the site’s own software — remains the property of its owners and is protected by law. This does not apply to the open data listed on the Sources page, which is available under its own licences.

5.3The Service links to third-party websites, such as those on the Sources page. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

6. Disclaimers and limits of liability

6.1The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we give no warranty, express or implied, about its accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose.

6.2To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by relying on the content of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.

6.3If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect the mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of the country where you live.

7. Changes to these Terms

7.1We may update these Terms. The current version is always on this page, with its “Last updated” date at the top. We will note material changes at the top of this page. If you keep using the Service after an update, you accept the updated Terms, to the extent the law allows.

8. Governing law

8.1If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country where you live apply and prevail over any conflicting term.
